"JOE TORNABENE (USA/FRANCE), saxophone baryton -- Acteur pour le théâtre ou le cinéma, marionnettiste, artiste multimédia, ce saxophoniste baryton (flûtiste de formation) a connu un parcours éclectique. Respiration continue et sons multiphoniques (accords obtenus grâce à des doigtés spéciaux) fondent un solo ininterrompu et fuselé, dans la lignée de ceux délivrés dans le passé par Peter Van Riper, Ned Rothenberg ou Evan Parker. (Theatre and cinema actor, puppeteer, multimedia artist, this baritone saxophonist (earlier trained as a flute player) has had an eclectic career development. Circular breathing and multiphonic sonorities (chord drones played with special fingerings) create a continuous and streamlined solo along the same lines of those released in the past from Peter Van Riper, Ned Rothenberg or Evan Parker. We think of Charlemagne Palestine, among other eminences of the sounding minimalism, for the solicitation of the overtones (harmonics) which the acoustics of the spaces with strong reverberation like that of the Museum of the Mine ( Saint-Etienne, France) will not have difficulties to enhance to the extreme.)

*A five day workshop at the Dancefest Akropoditi, Syros, Greece which will be with dancers and musicians. The focus will be the music/movement relationship, combined with the embodiment performance and inter-psychic work. I will co-teach with the dancer/choreographer Thalia Ditsa. They have not scheduled the exact dates yet.
